I currently work for the Networks sector of Motorola in Fort Worth, Texas. I started out in the Motorola Cellular Support Center taking calls from customers and Motorola support personnel all over the world on CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile phone networks. If you don't know what CDMA is or means, Verizon, Sprint & Alltel are 3 of the major CDMA or digital carriers in the US. T-Mobile & Cingular are GSM providers.

I was the point person for issues for our Hong Kong market which was the single biggest CDMA market in the world, and the 1st CDMA market to go commercial in 1995. During this time I went to Hong Kong once and Seoul, Korea once. I started as a contractor in January 1997 and then became a permanent employee in June 1997.

In the summer of 1999, I changed to a global team that was focused in more specialized areas such as system audits, upgrades, complex network changes and other stuff that no one else in Motorola would do. For this job I was on the load support team and then changed to a rapid deployment team. I participated in activities in Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Swindown (UK), Argentina and Mexico. I spent 6 weeks in Buenos Aires in November & December 1999 helping to deploy the new network there.

In my most recent job, I have been on the Asia/Pac deployment team. I spent some time on the China deployment team and traveled to China 5 times visiting Beijing, Nanchang, Jilin, Changchun and Qinhuangdao. After SARS in early 2002, I was moved to the newly-forming India team. I visited India 8 times betweem October 2003 & April 2005. My team helped get the networks going in India & bring the local teams up to speed.

I am still on the same team but now more focused on the earlier life cycle of the software development phase. My team gets involved earlier and brings our field experiences to the development process to help stop problems before they get to our customers. This is as of summer 2005.
